La religion de Lancelot Voisin, sieur de La Popelinière (vers 1541-1608)

Summary

In his historical works and correspondence, Lancelot Voisin, Sieur de La Popelinière (ca. 1541-1608), a Protestant from La Rochelle in the lower Poitou, gives us scattered evidence for his religious convictions. Even if these are in line with Calvinist teaching, they do not prevent Voisin from frequenting members of the Catholic clergy and experiencing a serious dispute with the pastors of La Rochelle (1581-1585). However, his convictions were still strong enough for him to be buried in the Huguenot cemetery of Saint-Germain in Paris.
